The Process:

Winners of firearms are required to schedule an appointment in person at our premise located at 1143 Bainbridge Blvd in Chesapeake, VA 23324. A link will be provided after the auction has ended so that you can schedule a dedicated time slot. We will not accept walk-ins, you must schedule an appointment.

You will be required to fill out two separate forms:

​

1. 4473 (FEDERAL) 

2. VA SP65 (STATE)

​

Attached is a blank copy of each form; please familiarize yourself with both as they will need to filled out correctly and completely in person at our location.

​

We can only transfer firearms to the person named on the invoice provided by the auction company. If you are not listed as the buyer, you will not be able to do the transfer. No exceptions. No spouses, relatives, neighbors, etc.

Firearm Type Restrictions:

​

Pistols: Can only be transferred to Virginia Residents at our place of business. Can be shipped to FFL out of state for non-residents. Virginia residents can only transfer One (1) handgun every 30 days unless they have a valid concealed carry permit.

Revolvers: Can only be transferred to Virginia Residents at our place of business. Can be shipped to FFL out of state for non-residents. Virginia residents can only transfer One (1) handgun every 30 days unless they have a valid concealed carry permit.

Derringers: Can only be transferred to Virginia Residents at our place of business. Can be shipped to FFL out of state for non-residents. Virginia residents can only transfer One (1) handgun every 30 days unless they have a valid concealed carry permit.

 

Receivers: Can only be transferred to Virginia Residents at our place of business. Can be shipped to FFL out of state for non-residents.

Rifles: Can be transferred to residents or non-residents. Non-residents have additional ID requirements (see below)  

Shotguns: Can be transferred to residents or non-residents. Non-residents have additional ID requirements (see below)

ID Requirements:

 

Virginia Residents: Must provide One (1) form of valid unexpired photo ID that has your current and correct physical address on it. If adress is not current, you must provide proof of change-of-address from the Virginia DMV

 

Non-Residents:  Must provide One (1) form of valid unexpired photo ID that has your current and correct physical address on it AND One (1) form of secondary ID from the list below:

1. A current lease.  

2. Evidence of currently paid personal property tax or real estate tax 

3. A current utility or telephone bill.  

4. A current voter registration card.  

5. A current bank check.  

6. A current automobile registration.  

7. A current hunting or fishing license.

​

The above list is not a list of suggestions, you must provide an item off the list per the VA state police. If it is not on the list, we will not accept it. They no longer accept a concealed carry permit as secondary ID. 

​

Active Duty Military: Must provide One (1) form of valid unexpired photo ID, unexpired DOD CAC Card, and permanent duty orders showing your "Ultimate Activity" at a duty station in Virginia. Your permanent orders give you Virginia residency.

Appointment:

 

We require you to schedule an appointment for pickup. A link will be provided to schedule an appointment after the close of the auction. You must schedule an appointment during this timeframe. If you are unable to do so, you will need to reach out and request an extension to do it at another date at our convenience. If we do not hear from you within Seven (7) days after the scheduled pickup period, your items will be considered abandoned. Please do not bring additional people with you to your pickup appointment unless absolutely necessary. We have limited space and that space is reserved for customers doing paperwork.

Delayed Background Checks:

 

Once your paperwork has been completed, we will submit the transaction to the Virginia State Police for the background check to be completed. Many times the background check is instantly approved. Sometimes it goes into delay. Delays can take as little as 10 minutes or they can take up to 7 days by law. If your transaction goes into delay, you may wait at our shop for fifteen (15) minutes. If it does not come back in that time period, we ask that you leave the premise to make room for other customers in both the building and parking lot. We will contact you as soon as it is approved and you may then return to pick your items up.

Shipping:

 

Shipping of firearms is available to non-residents and out of town VA residents. Packing and shipping will take place the week after transfers are completed. If it is your intention to have your items shipped, please send us an email at ODMFFL@gmail.com with your name, the list of firearm lot numbers you won, and which FFL you would like them shipped to. We will then get a copy of your dealers FFL, pack your items, and send you an invoice by email for shipping total.

We ship at cost plus set fees for insurance and packing materials. See fee schedule below. We will always try our best to maximize shipping value by combining lots when possible. We do not use any used packing materials; we always use new high-quality 200LB crush test boxes. Shipping will include required adult signature and direct delivery fee. Per UPS policy, handguns will ship next day air and long guns will be shipped ground.

 

Fee Schedule:

 

Transfer Fee (Flat PER Firearm): $30

Resident Background Check: $2

Non-Resident Background Check: $5

 

• Transfer fees apply to EACH firearm. Background check fee only applies once per appointment. Transfer fee applies to all buyers including FFL dealers and shipped firearms. No quantity discounts are given as it is our handling fee for working with these firearms.

Shipping: AT COST (via UPS and includes adult signature and direct delivery)

Bubble Wrap/Paper Fee (PER GUN): $5

Boxes (PER BOX):​ $6

Lock Fee (PER HANDGUN): $5

• Per federal law, every handgun transferred is required to include a lock. If the handgun you purchased does not include a lock, you will be required to purchase a lock unless you bring one with you.

​

Firearm Storage Fee (PER MONTH): $10

​

• Applies only to firearms with a mutually agreed-upon storage agreement in place.
